27th Street ITT April 30, 2008

This is the 2nd in a series of the spring time trials put on by Russ Clark of Europa Cycle. Pre-ride gathering
Tom is getting ready to go.
They had an easy ride out but after the turn around it was nice and breezy!
And who is this man? Paul in his modeling his new team kit.

All gather for the reading of the results.
I only took a few pictures tonight as Russ let me shoot with his nice digital SLR. He might put a few pictures from tonight on his store website.

Next up for me is the Ingawanis race this weekend. I will be on a corner in the woods telling people where to go. LOL

Have a great week, I know I will because I'll be taking lots of pictures.

Iowa City Road Race 2008

This is my 2nd time attending the Iowa City Road race held in Sharon Center, hometown of my mother. It was a gusty day with threats of all kinds of yucky weather.
I'm glad my sister raced having just returning from a business trip to Hong Kong.
I love watching the racing and seeing the varieties of Amish rolling stock.

University of Minnesota has unpacked and is inside registering.
Collegiate men passing one of the cemeteries.

The first group of women. You can just barely see the second group in the middle right.
Here they come with Lacy leading the way.

My favorite race picture of the weekend. I like the composition and colors.
After the town corner its quite a way to the next corner.
Surrounded by Kansas.
The winner!

Another lap to go means time for hand ups.
Please bring your own chair. If you forget...yank out your van seat.

Racers meet the buggy.
Won by at least 6 lengths!

The approach this year was to travel the course backwards looking for various backgrounds for the racers. I always try to mix it up with both close and far, racing and relaxing and non bike shots.
As racers can get stretched out I tried to capture that in the view from the hill. Racers really don't want to get stretched out but it happens.

Go out and take some pictures. Be sure to mix it up.

Old Capitol Crit 2008

Racers gathered round Old Capitol for the 31st time for some great racing. I tried to catch some of the action. Congratulations to all for your hard work. Pat yourself on the back for doing your best.
See you at the next race. I'll be taking some pictures.

Finchford Roubaix 2008: Behind the Scenes

One might think that the only action during a bike race is out on the course.
Let me tell you...things can happen at anytime and anywhere.
Here is a look at registration.

Corner 1. These gentlemen were working hard keeping traffic at bay.
This brief moment they finally had a chance to rest. Sometimes there is a interesting house that you might want to record.

Corner 2
Sheri is not kneeling nor is she unusually short.
And hi to you too!
There is plenty of rehashing the race.
You can eat while rehashing the race. One can look just as cool riding around in your team kit in your car
as well racing on your bike.

"And then I was off the front and never looked back!"

The officials are now without shelter. Too much wind I'm guess.Corner 3
Cool ditch find. Reversible and very functional.

Michael helps a lost driver. "Back up and go east."Rob wants closer look at the rig.

Mike is making sure all is good with the final results of the final race.
Looks good to me.I guess that about wraps it up folks.

Get out and take some pictures.
They tell the story on their own.
Sometimes there are multiple lines of pictures going on at the same time.
